Carolyn Mae Seats Disher, 87, of Lewisville, NC, passed away on May 16, 2026 at her home.
Carolyn was born on November 21, 1938 to the late John Clingman Seats and Louise Bryant Seats of Forsyth County. Carolyn was part of the last graduating class of Lewisville High School in 1956. She then earned her degree from Appalachian State Teachers College and became a teacher at Rural Hall Elementary School and later, a teacher and librarian at Lewisville Elementary school prior to having her children. Even after children, Carolyn continued to work on the family farm planting and harvesting tobacco. She was a lifetime member at Union United Methodist Church, where she served in the choir and on numerous boards. You could always look forward to hearing her solo of “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” at Christmas. She answered to many calls, but “Mama”, “Moms”, “Nanny”, or “DoDo” were her favorites. When she wasn’t with family, or helping at church, you could find her working in her flower beds and garden, playing the piano, or indulging in any dessert with caramel.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her mother and father along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Johnny Disher; her two sons, David (Wendee) Disher, and Tim (Cary) Disher; her 7 grandchildren, Cara (Kristian) Blackburn, Will Disher (Savannah Owens), Johnlee Disher, Jake Disher, Lillie Disher, Sadie Disher, and Hank Disher; her great grandson Bowen Blackburn; a step grandchild Reece Matthews; her brother John “Phil” (Lissa) Seats; her aunts: Faye Seats, Francis Sisk, and Jackie Seats; her nieces and nephew: Abby Seats, Lizzie (Carl) Pellington, and John Seats; several great nieces and nephews; several cousins; and her best friend and cousin Ms. Norma Jean Harbin.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Union United Methodist Church by Rev. Randy Perdue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express with their sincere gratitude to the staff at Trellis Supportive Care, and the caregivers: Sierra Perrell, Cameron McKinney, Mandi Norman, and Kelly Smith.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care (101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103) or Union United Methodist Church (8935 Shallowford Road Lewisville, NC 27023).
