Carolyn Peddycord Myers, 76, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Trellis Supportive Care. She was born November 24, 1942 to Neva Hutchins Peddycord and Clarence Clark Peddycord in Forsyth County. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Myers was completely deaf the majority of her adult life and was the first deaf graduate of Forsyth Tech. She overcame many health obstacles with the care of her longtime partner, Jack Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Myers, and a brother, Kenneth Peddycord. Surviving are her daughter, Pam Beard (Eldon) of Kernersville; son, Michael “Todd” McBride (Cheryl) of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Stephen Brown (Andrea), Sarah Billups (Joey), Seth Brown, Mikayla McBride, Mariah McBride, Justin Beard (Jessica), April Elizabeth Beard, and Joe Beard; brother, Calvin Peddycord (Pat) of Winston-Salem; sisters, Joyce Shields of Clemmons, and Reba Kathleen Wilson of Raleigh; her loving partner of 22 years, Jack Carter of Winston-Salem; great grandchildren, Kaiya McBride, Julia Brown, and Cameron Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Mike Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to NC Deaf and Blind Organization.
