Carolyn Neill Brown, 62, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Born on November 5, 1962 in Greensboro, N.C. to the late Martha Stokes Neill and Nollie Washburn Neill, during her youth she was active in Girl Scouts, enjoyed sailing, time at the beach, and traveling. A 1981 graduate of Page High School, she worked on the school newspaper and sang in the choir. She attended Elon College and later graduated from Pfeiffer College, earning a degree in Religious Education. Carolyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem, the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), and the Ex Libris Book Club. Carolyn’s greatest joy and passion, however, was her family—especially her children and grandson. She was known for her warmth, kindness, thoughtful spirit, and love for others. Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Andy F. Brown; her children, Walton S. Brown (Mackenzie), Madeline M. Brown, and Audrey E. Brown; and her grandson, Benjamin L. Brown, all of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by her brother, Nollie W. Neill, Jr. (Pam) of Ennice, North Carolina.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow on Sunday, October 26, at 3:00 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, 901 Wharton Street, Greensboro, North Carolina.
