Mrs. Carolyn Pedersen Saxon, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 13, 1929 in Babylon, Long Island, NY to Dorothy Marie Smith Pedersen and Arthur Martin Pedersen. Mrs. Saxon was a faithful member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church who loved her church family dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was an avid bridge player who received her Life Master's Certificate. She attended the Richmond Professional Institute and worked as a Physical and Occupational Therapist in the Winston-Salem area for many years. Mrs. Saxon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emerson Saxon. Surviving are three sons, Paul Andrew Saxon and wife Anne Murray Saxon, Jeffrey Arthur Saxon and Glenn Warren Saxon, all of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Stephen Andrew Saxon and wife Diana Palumbo Saxon, and Suzanne Marie Maggs and husband Jeffery David Maggs; two great grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Saxon and Cassandra Christine Maggs; and one brother, Herbert Martin Pedersen and wife Doris Pedersen of Long Island, New York. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Central Terrace United Methodist Church with Rev. David Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:15-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church and following the graveside service at the home of Paul and Anne Saxon. Memorials can be made to the Winston-Salem Girls Chorus (4105 Sewanee Drive, Winston-Salem, 27106) and Central Terrace United Methodist Church (3 E. Devonshire Street, Winston-Salem, 27127).
