Carolyn Sue Shields

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Crouse Shields passed away Friday afternoon, October 14, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on November 5, 1933 in Forsyth County, to the late Sherman Crouse and Cleva Kiger Crouse. Sue played many sports growing up, including softball, basketball, cheerleading, and majorette. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed going to the beach. Sue retired from Forsyth Hospital in 1998. She was a member of Olivet Moravian Church and headed up (with the help of her husband Joseph) the youth fellowship for many years. Sue enjoying working in her flower garden, and going to the beach. Most of all she loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph T. Shields; and sister Betty Baugess. Sue is survived by her daughter Lisa Lowder and husband Dr. Stephen Lowder; two sons Randy T Shields and wife Kristen and Kerry Shields and wife Lynn Pitson; two granddaughters Emily and Katherine Shields; and a sister Glenda Meyers. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, October 17, 2016 at Olivet Moravian Church with Rev. Matthew W. Allen and Rev. Bill Gramley officiating. The family will receive friends One Hour Prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church Graveyard. Memorials may be made in Carolyn's Honor to Olivet Moravian Church, Olivet Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to Ashley Clemmons, Margo Cooper, Lou Saunders, Loretta Whitt, Bill and Sandra Gramley, and Dr. Garrison.
