Carolyn Wells Swaim

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Carolyn 'Mama C' Wells Swaim, 87, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 adding a radiant new bloom to God's Garden. Carolyn was born in Griffin, Georgia on September 13, 1926 to James Henderson and Iris Westmoreland Wells. She was a longtime member of Cherry Street United Methodist Church and was employed by Western Electric and Crawford Mills before devoting all of her time to the care of her family. Mama C and Daddy Herb shared a love for the beach and spent many years at Emerald Isle, their home away from home. She had a passion for growing flowers that depicted her own beauty and lively spirit! She made friends with everyone she met and wanted nothing but the best for her family. Carolyn's love for others far surpassed her petite size.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herbert Harrison Swaim, Sr.; her sister, Julia Wells; and a nephew, Jeffrey Wells.

Surviving are her daughter, Jeanie Stanley (Don ); two sons, Barry Swaim (Lisa) and Herb Swaim Jr. (Nancy); eight grandchildren, Chris Stanley (Jenna), Melissa Stanley, Will Stanley (Sarah) , Whitney, Brad, Reid and Jes Swaim and Audrey Albury; six great grandchildren, Ian, Elise, Lyn, Jason, Anna and Jamie; one brother, Robert Wells (Brenda); and half-brother, Rick Wells (Alysia); a niece, Suzanne Atkins (Wesley); and a close friend, Martha Farrington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Trinity Glen for their care and compassion for Carolyn.
