Carrie Byrd

Carrie "Catherine" Byrd, 88, of Advance, passed away Wednesday afternoon September 13, 2017 at her home. She was born in Swain County, NC, on November 15, 1928 to the late Ralph Eugene Byrd and Carrie Morrow Byrd. Catherine was a member (for almost 70 years) at Calvary Baptist Church, where she sang in the Senior Choir. Catherine attended numerous mission trips and was an avid supporter of missions. She retired from Bell South with 41 years of service. Catherine was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles, Harold, Fred, and Frank. She is survived by a brother, Ralph Byrd and wife, Barbara; two sisters: Maxine Mobbs and husband Jim and Ruth Karen Deaton; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
