Catherine "Kitty" Beam Bowles

WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mrs. Catherine ""Kitty"" Beam Bowles, 90, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Kitty was born on March 16, 1925, in Lincolnton, NC, to the late Clyde and Lula Beam. Kitty graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, NC, with a degree in math. She devoted her life to her family and her church community at Lakeview Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. She chaired numerous church committees, was a member of the choir, and contributed significantly to the improvement of the Church house and grounds. She recently relocated to Brookridge Village in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Bowles; her daughter, Mary Catherine ""Cathy"" Bridges; and her sisters, Margaret Jones and Elizabeth ""Libby"" Beam Lawing. Kitty is survived by her daughters, Margaret Bowles (Bob Wolf) of Winter Park, Colorado, and Meredith Ebert (Tim) of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Mark Ebert (Jennifer) of Columbia, SC, Paul Ebert of Winston-Salem, Jim Bridges (Elizabeth) of Philadelphia, PA, Anna Wheeler (Sam) of College Park, GA, and Michael Bridges (Emily) of Clarksville, TN; step grandchildren, Elisa Kryskow (Mark) of Pittsfield, MA and Nicole Murphy (Andy) of Atlanta, GA; and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Hickory, NC with Pastor Troy Grant officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 4080 N Center St., Hickory, NC 28601. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Bowles.
