Catherine Jane Reed

The Reverend Catherine Jane Reed passed away February 21, 2014 at Regency Nursing Center. She was born July 16, 1923 in Erie, PA. At an early age, she moved with her parents, Daniel and Virgie Reed, to Drift, KY. She completed her early education and high school there. She received a B.A. from McCormick Seminary and a B.A. in Divinity from Yale Divinity School. In the mid-1960's she moved to North Carolina where she earned a Master's Degree in social work from UNC-Chapel Hill. She served many local churches associated with the Yadkin Presbytery including Lloyd Presbyterian Church. The last years of her ministry were with the Salem Presbytery where she served in many different capacities. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Community Hospice, 225 Davie Avenue, Statesville, NC 28677.
