Cathy Denise Mathis

Cathy Denise Mathis, 66, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at her home in Winston-Salem, NC.

Cathy was born in Forsyth County, NC, on April 5, 1959, to Bill Hayes and Hazel Virginia Flynt. She was a graduate of the class of 1977 from North Davidson High School. Cathy worked at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for 33 years. She attended Union Ridge United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem for many years.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Mathis; her son, Cody Mathis; Cody's girlfriend, Ruby Dellinger; and many cousins.

A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cathy’s name to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, or the Forsyth Humane Society.
