Cecil Edward "C.E." Martin

Walnut Cove – Mr. Cecil Edward “C.E.” Martin, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his home. He was born in Guilford County to Vertie Edward and Emma Linville Martin. C.E. was an active member of Gospel Light Baptist Church where he served an usher for many years. He retired from Roadway Express after over 30 years of service. C.E. enjoyed farming and landscaping. He was a talented craftsman and has built 27 covered wagons. C.E. was a very dedicated family man and loved to spend time with them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, C.E. was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Martin; his son-in-law, Mark Hastings; four sisters; and one brother.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Jean Wilkes Martin; daughter, Cindy Martin Hastings; son, Forrest Martin (wife, Christie); 6 grandsons, Shane, Jacob (wife, Madison), Josh (fiancé, Evette), Tyler (wife, Georgia Rae), Hunter (wife, Whitley), and Tanner (wife, Haley); and six great grandchildren.
