Cecil Pearce Pate, Jr.

Mr. Cecil Pearce Pate, Jr. 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born in Calhoun, South Carolina on April 6, 1922 to Cecil Pearce, Sr and Annie May Smith Pate. Mr. Pate served in the US Marine Corp from 1942- 45 during World War II. He was attending Wofford College when he decided to enlist in the US Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jane Royster Pate. Surviving are a daughter Beth (Warren) Howard of Clemmons, two sons Richard (Patty) Pate and Jerry Pate all of Winston-Salem, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Ardmore United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Tanico officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:45 to 2:45 immediately prior to the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ardmore United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is serving the Pate family.
