Charles Herbert Calhoun

Mr. Charles Herbert Calhoun, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away August 10, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Stokes County on October 23, 1929 to Dewey and Jettie Golden Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Linville Forest Church of Christ and retired from Roadway Express with 30 years of service. Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents; and 10 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Opal H. Calhoun; a son, Mike Calhoun of Walnut Cove; a daughter, Donna Thompson of Pfafftown; two grandchildren, Jeff Thompson and wife Rebecca, and Matt Thompson, all of Pfafftown; a sister, Louise Mahaffey and husband, Junior of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Larry Calhoun and wife Doris of DE. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Kelly Brown officiating.
