Charles “Chip” Evans Bast II, 73, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Winston-Salem, NC.

Chip was born on October 31, 1951, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Elizabeth Bast. He graduated from Pottstown Senior High School and then served in the United States Air Force for twenty years. After retiring from the Air Force, he had a second career working in Information Technology for nineteen years. He and his wife, Vivian, have lived in Pfafftown, North Carolina, for the past 27 years.

Chip loved traveling, especially camping. He was an avid wildlife photographer who also enjoyed astronomy.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family includes his loving wife of 54 years, Vivian; daughter, Melanie Bast-Hanline (David); son, Jeremiah E. Bast (Kristin); grandchildren, Jordan E. Bast, Stephen Hanline (Maryssa), and Jacob Hanline (Kayla), Lyda Kayl (Gregory), Zoe Bast, and Hailey Bast; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Susan Garrison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chip’s name to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Shriners Children's, Attn: Shriners Children's, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394, or Yellowstone Forever, PO Box 1857, Bozeman, MT 59771.
