Mr. Charles “Chuck” Steven Kutschenreuter, 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born in Miami, Florida, on February 5, 1947, and spent most of his childhood in northern Virginia. Chuck was the son of the late Paul and Pearl Kutschenreuter. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and then attended Clemson University. He went on to enjoy a long and rewarding career in the automotive battery industry.
On July 10, 1970, Chuck married the love of his life, Sandra Jones. Together they shared 55 wonderful years filled with laughter, family, and adventure.
Chuck will be remembered for his sharp mind, kind heart, and unwavering sense of humor. He was an avid and proud supporter of Clemson football. He loved classic rock—especially Fleetwood Mac—and had a lifelong passion for electronics. In his youth, he became the youngest licensed Ham Radio Operator of his time, sparking a curiosity that lasted a lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom Kutschenreuter; and his stepmother, Christina Kutschenreuter.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sandra Kutschenreuter, of the home; daughters, Melissa Keesaer (Jim) of Greenville, SC, and Jennifer Pearce (Gary) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Maddie Snow (Teddy), Andrew Thomas, and Sadie Thomas; and his brother, Pete Kutschenreuter.
A memorial service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their website: www.stjude.org/donate.
