Mr. Charles Adam Conrad, 91, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Homestead Hills Retirement Community. He was born May 5, 1926 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Lacy Hoke and Clara Victoria Lashmit Conrad. Mr. Conrad was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church. He served with the US Army's 100th Division during World War II and was retired from Western Electric following 36 years of service. He was a custom gun maker and woodcarver for over 50 years. He played softball on numerous teams over several decades. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Fishel Conrad. Survivors include three sons, Joe C. Conrad and wife, Sandy, Timothy D. Conrad of Winston-Salem and Christopher B. Conrad and wife, Julie of Melbourne, FL; four grandchildren, Joe C. Conrad II, Lacey Conrad, Adam Conrad and Jennifer Conrad; two great grandchildren, Joe Conrad, III and Skye Conrad; and one brother, Jack Conrad of Winston-Salem. A military graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
