Charles King

Mr. Charles Ray King, 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Bradford Village West in Kernersville.
Mr. King was born in Davidson County on March 29, 1933 to the late Cary Luthor and Manilla Parrish King. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
He worked long tenures with Kayser-Roth for 16 years and Adams-Millis/Sara Lee for 22 years. He enjoyed gospel music and bluegrass, westerns, and trips to the coast with family as his health permitted.
He belonged to Cherry Street United Methodist Church.
He was married to Mary Lou (Martin) King for 48 years until her death in 2004. In addition to his parents and Mary, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Leva Mabe, and Ruby Eaton; and brothers, James, Robert, and Robah King.
Survivors include his faithful son, Charles Scott and daughter-in-law, Billie King; one grandson special to Mr. King, Cameron Lee King; one brother, Cecil and sister-in-law, Dot King, all of Kernersville.

Faye and Theresa, Phyllis McCrackin and Steve King, Wayne and the Eaton family, Jan and Mary Ford, Lynn Fields, Lois and Vince, and Mrs. Serrin for help in the past. Don Martin who has been like a big brother and especially our angel friend who "Pop" loved dearly, Donna Moorefield.
A funeral service for Mr. King will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Vince Ashley, Pastor Chad Shoaf, and Pastor Drew Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
