Charles McRay Lawson

Charles McRay Lawson, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully Friday, August 11, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1927 in Stokes County, the son of the late Joseph Linwood Lawson and Ada Jane Palmer Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a member of Oak Summit Community Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Greenway Lawson. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Eagle and husband, Rex of Winston-Salem and Donna Hobbs and husband, Rodney of Greenville, SC; one granddaughter, Amy Eagle Whitten and husband, Joe of SC; one grandson, Matthew Hobbs of SC; two great grandchildren, Courtney Whitten of Charlotte and Christopher Charles Whitten of SC; three step granddaughters, Valerie Falkner of GA, Amy Fields of TN and Sarah Rooks of Concord; one sister, Katie Southern of GA; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
