Charles Long Sr.

Mr. Charles "Tom" Thomas Long Sr., 67, passed away December 4, 2017 at Kate B. Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born June 26, 1950 in Forsyth County to Robert H. Long and Eula Gray Shore Long. He loved working during his career, most recently as Vice President of Johnson Concrete. Tom, most importantly loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Tom is preceded in death by one brother, Robbie Long, and Robbie's son Paul. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathryn "Kathy" Elizabeth Pfaff Long; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Thomas Long Jr. and his wife Julie Long of Winston-Salem, Derek Christopher Long and wife Sandy Rodriguez of Kansas City, Mo; two grandchildren, Rachel and Peyton Long. Also survived are his parents, Robert H. Long and Eula Gray Shore Long, commonly known as "Bobby and Eula". A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Mizpah Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Timothy G. Sapp, Rev. Charles W. Fishel, and Rev. David H. Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be observed. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel beginning at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mizpah Moravian Church Raise the Roof Fund, 3195 Mizpah Church Road, Rural Hall, N.C. 27045. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
