Charles Mathis

Mr. Charles Bruce Mathis, 83, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born April 12, 1934 in Wilkes County to the late Franklin Glenn Mathis and Cordell Livingston Mathis. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by six siblings: Devon, Nadine, J.R., Mozelle, Pauline and Dwight. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Mathis; his son, Mike Mathis (Laurie); two daughters, Kristi Crews (Gary) and Barbie Boling (Chris); eight grandchildren: Melanie, Taylor, Maddie, Abbey, Kaitie, Ashley, Courtney, and Theresa; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby (Sarah); two sisters, Frankie (Calvin) and Phyllis; a special friend, Lynda Carroll; and two adopted grandsons, Willie and Josh. The family would like to extend a special thank you to, Sonya, his nurse at KBR. A funeral service will be conducted 12:30 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Believers Baptist Church with the Rev. Don McGee officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
