Charles Ray Pruitt

Charles Ray Pruitt, 64, passed away on August 13, 2026, at his residence in Winston-Salem, NC.

He was born on July 10, 1962, in Forsyth County, NC, to Henley Daleman Pruitt and Pauline Jessup Evans.

Charles and Tammy Hauser Pruitt were childhood sweethearts from the age of twelve. They were happily married for 44 years. They were “joined at the hip” and did everything together.

For almost twenty years, Charles was a registered nurse. He was known for being focused and hard-working, as well as easy-going, happy, and kind-hearted. He was a jack-of-all-trades who knew a lot about almost anything.

In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening with Tammy and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charles loved his family and being a grandpa.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Pruitt. Left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Tammy Hauser Pruitt; daughter, Brittany Pruitt (Joshua Jimenez-Cruz); son, Tyler Pruitt (Yi-Wen Liu); grandchildren, Ian Liu Pruitt and Elaina Pruitt-Cruz; stepmother, Marie Pruitt; and special friend and cousin, Renea Brewer.

Per Charles’ request, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
