Charles Howard Rutledge

Mr. Charles Howard Rutledge, 87, passed away September 4, 2016 at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yadkinville, N.C. He was born February 12, 1929 in Stokes Co. the son of the late Carl McRay Rutledge and Mary Magdalene Thomas Rutledge. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville as long as his health permitted. Howard was a master craftsman in his profession, but was also known as a ""fix it man"", if it was broken and could be fixed, he was the man for the job. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mamie Hayes Rutledge and three brothers. Howard is survived by his two daughters, Vicki Rutledge Marx (Richard) and Sharon Rutledge Patterson (Randy); two grandchildren, Jonathan Marx (Ashley) and Brooke Johnson (Charles); two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Marx and Phillip Marx; a brother, Carl Ray Rutledge (Bonnie) and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center, 333 E. Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055.
