Charles Ashburn Williams

Mr. Charles Ashburn Williams, 79, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1937 in Davidson County to Jesse A. and Grace Hayworth Williams. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where he directed the drama ""The Last Supper"" and played the part of Matthew. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Pleasants Hardware after 27 years as a Vice President. After retiring he worked for several years at Gobble Concrete in Lexington. Charles loved to fish, garden, and carve song birds; he was a true outdoorsman. One of his passions was the history and antiquities of the Cherokee Indian Nation. Devoted to his family, he was strong and had a gentle spirit. Charles shared a deep bond with his son whereby Mark learned about life and faith. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carroll Kay Nail Williams of the home; a son Charles Mark Williams (Laura) of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Caroline W. Pennington (Ryan) of Zebulon and Andrew Madison Williams II of Lewisville; two sisters, Betty Gobble (Ronald) and Mary Ruth Parks (Kent) all of Lexington and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 4 PM Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Eileen Ayuso officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 12 noon in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday after the service at the church. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Trinity Elms for all of their love and care of Charles. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
