Charles Garnett Yarbrough

Mr. Charles Garnett “Slim” Yarbrough, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Guilford Co. on December 14, 1930, the son of the late Thurman and Garnett Yarbrough. He faithfully worked for Salem Leasing for over 20 years. Charlie loved his family dearly. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to White Lake until his health declined. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles G. Yarbrough, Jr. Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Elsie S. Yarbrough of the home; a son, William Yarbrough (Vivian); step children, Mark Shouse, Susan Farmer (Jessie), Bobby Shouse, Sr. (Cynthia), Charles Shouse, and Mike Shouse; a daughter-in-law, Genara Yarbrough; grandchildren, Flora K. Shah (Kunal), Carl Yarbrough (Corrie), John Yarbrough, Liam Yarbrough, Christie Brown (Marlon), Tiffany Shouse, Bobby Jr., Kayla and a devoted granddaughter, Jennifer Shouse, who has been with him throughout his illness; and three great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Braylen and Zaiden. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Tim Oakes officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the services at the funeral home.
