Mr. Charles Thomas “Tommy” Goforth, Sr., 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Tommy was born in Forsyth County on August 7, 1933, to the late Claude Otis Goforth and Modean Smith Goforth. He graduated from Gray High School and served in the United States Army Airborne Unit in Korea. Tommy retired from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office with 39 years of service. He was a member of Immanuel New Eden Moravian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ted Clodfelter, Curtis Goforth, Rayvon Goforth, and Robert “Bobby” Goforth; and one sister, Faye Logan. Tommy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kay Goforth; two sons, Chuck Goforth, Jr. (Cathie) and Jerald Culler, Jr. (Pam); two grandchildren, Charlie Goforth (Heather) and Nikki Everhart (Lee); two great-grandchildren, Izzy Goforth and Lincoln Goforth; and his beloved dog, Curly Goforth. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Cheryl G. Cottingham officiating. Interment will follow at Immanuel New Eden Moravian Church graveyard, 3680 Old Lexington Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
