Charlie Author Collins

WALKERTOWN-Charlie Author Collins, 79, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1934 in Stokes Co. to the late Elmer and Alice Collins. Mr. Collins was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and attended Germanton Baptist in later years. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from AG Boone after many years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Collins. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Welch Collins of the home; daughter, Robin McCraw and husband, Bonner of Kernersville; son, Dennis Collins of VA; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Collins and wife, Marie of Danville, VA, and Keith Collins of Kernersville; two sisters, Audrey Marshall and husband, JC of Pilot Mtn, Jean Mitchell and husband, Buddy of Colfax; and sister-in-law, Brenda Collins of Kernersville. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Joe McWethy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
