Charlie Jester, Jr.

Mr. Charlie Benbow Jester, Jr., 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Charlie was born September 25, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late Charlie Benbow Jester, Sr. and Doris White Jester. Charlie, known to childhood friends and close family as Benny, was a renowned joke teller and lover of Country and Bluegrass music. He was retired from Aon, formerly Booke and Company, and spent many hours in retirement listening to his extensive record collection and trying to eat at all the BBQ joints in NC; he discovered his favorite BBQ was close to home at Speedy Lohr's! As long as he was able Charlie worshiped at Linville Forest Church of Christ and loved the fellowship of our Church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Onie Williams Jester.
Left to cherish Charlie's memory are his beloved wife, Jane Willis Jester, of the home; son, Darrell Jester and wife Sherri and their sons, Brandon and Steven, of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Jessica Dell Lawson and husband Michael and their daughter, Kallista, of Walkertown; son, Chip Oakley and wife Rada and their daughters, Sasha and Alli Jane, of Walkertown; and son, John Sams and wife Astrud of Talum, Mexico. Also surviving are Charlie's sister, Sheree Berckmans and her daughters, Katelijn and Marlee, of Chapel Hill; and brother, Alvin Jester and wife Pat of Summerfield their son Chris, wife Cassie and son Dylan. Charlie dearly loved and was so very proud of each of these family members and was so thankful for all the prayers and helping hands so freely given to us the last couple of years by all and family and so many friends.
The family would like to invite you to visit at an informal Celebration of Life to remember Charlie, Friday evening, December 1, 2017, at 7:00 pm, at Linville Forest Church of Christ, 450 Linville Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
