Chattie Livengood Shields

Mrs. Chattie Livengood Shields, 99, of Farmington passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Clemmons Village II. She was born in Rockingham County on June 24, 1915. Mrs. Shields was a charter member of Knollwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 72 years, John D. Shield, Sr.; three brothers, two sisters, and one great grandchild. Mrs. Shields is survived by two daughters, Pat Hege and her husband, Curt, and Jean Wilson; three sons, John D. Shields, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, who were very special caretakers to Mrs. Shields for the last five years, visiting her daily, Herbert Shields and his wife Virginia; and Joe Shields; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, December 29, 2014 at Knollwood Baptist Church. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Clemmons Village II and Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Shields.
