Cheryl Kay Flynn Butner

Ms. Cheryl Kay Flynn Butner, 78, died Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Trinity Glen Nursing Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Butner had been a resident at Trinity Glen for many years. Her family wishes to express their utmost appreciation and gratitude to all of those who cared for their mother over the years. She was cared for with love, respect and dignity for which her children will be forever grateful. Ms. Butner was born in Forsyth County on November 15, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger S. and Ivey Swain Flynn. She was a long-time member of Love’s United Methodist Church in Walkertown and served for decades as a teaching assistant in Guilford and Forsyth County elementary schools. She loved helping children, but an even greater love was for Tarheel basketball. Friends and family alike knew not to interrupt her during a Tarheel basketball game. She is survived by her beloved children, Chad. E. Fulton and Mitzi Teague (husband, Kenny) of Rural Hall; her granddaughter, Miranda Dalton, and her two great grandchildren, Finley and Scarlett. Also surviving are sisters, Judy Flynn and Marilyn Beeson. The family will receive friends 3:00-5:00PM on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Private burial will take place on Monday at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. In recognition of the kindness shown to their mother, the family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Glen Nursing Care Center, 849 Waterworks Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. “I’m a Tarheel born. I’m a Tarheel bred. Go ‘Heels!”
