Chesley Pate

Mr. Chesley Hobson Pate, 75, died on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Chesley was born on October 23, 1942, in Forsyth County to V.C. Pate and Nancy Parrish. Chesley loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, beach music, and Carolina Basketball. He graduated from Gray High School and retired from Stroh's Brewery, where he was the 10th employee to be hired. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Prospect Hunt Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are three daughters, Katherine Martin (Shaun), Leigh Rippy, and Ashley Lunsford (Ernie); two sons, Brian Pate and Kevin Pate; and four grandchildren, Scott Armistead, Chris Armistead, Adam Rippy, and Ella Lunsford. Also surviving are one brother, Stephen Pate (Janice); two nieces, Shannon and Stephanie; and former wife and friend, Barbara Ferguson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing and medical staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm.
