Chester Monroe Ashby

Mr. Chester Monroe Ashby, 89, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born in Stokes Co. on August 20, 1921 to the late Henry Oliver and Ida Manring Ashby. Mr. Ashby is survived by a son, Chester Dean Ashby (Ilynn) of Rural Hall, two daughters, Patricia Phillips(Ernie) of Chilhowie, VA and Danita Mank (Stephen) of Decatur, GA., three sisters, Wanda Spainhour (Thurman) of Walkertown, Ida Mae Martin of Pfafftown and Mary Wade (Wallace) of Danville, VA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A gathering to celebrate Mr. Ashby's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family asks that memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
