Mr. Chester “Dean” Ashby, 75, went to Heaven on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Stokes Co. on March 25, 1944, son of the late Chester Monroe Ashby and Lena Agnes Cromer Ashby. Dean was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with over 30 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth “Ilynn” Ashby; a son, Andy Ashby (Stephanie); a daughter, Debra Caudle (Todd); five grandsons, Andrew Ashby, Logan Ashby, Ryan Caudle, Jordan Caudle and Mitchell Caudle; a granddaughter, Rachel Caudle; one sister, Pat Phillips (Ernie); a half-sister, Danita Mank (Stephen) and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Dean is also survived by his canine companion, Rocky; and many loving friends and neighbors. A memorial service celebrating Dean’s life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Tim Gammons, Rev. Todd Caudle and Rev. Daron Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private burial will follow at a later date.
