Kernersville – Chester “Pops” Jennings Holbrook, 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on July 31, 1962, in Mercer County, WV to the late Harold and Betty Lou Jackson Holbrook. Chester was a strong-willed, hard-working man. He was an avid bowler and loved watching his North Carolina Tar Heels play basketball. Chester was servant of the Lord, once serving as a deacon and treasurer for Unity Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will surely be missed by so many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ira Bill Largen.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, Cathy Holbrook; three children, Anthony Myers (Jeanne), Val Nestoryak, and Brian Holbrook (Kayla); seven grandchildren, Paden Myers, Mercedes Myers, Kaitlyn Myers, Madi Nestoryak, Mia Nestoryak, Landon Holbrook, and Gavin Holbrook; mother-in-law, Eyvonne Largen; and two sisters-in-law, Crystal Jones (Bobby), and Renee Zell (Ed).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Rev. Benny Sprouse and Rev. Nathan Parrish officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00pm, Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation, 1701 S Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
