Mr. Clarence Eugene Call died peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at The Crest of Clemmons where he has resided since 2008. Born September 6, 1921 in Wilkes County to Hugh and Julia Call, Clarence began his career in the U S. Marine Corp in 1940 where he served 30 yrs. retiring in 1971. He achieved the rank of Sgt. Major and served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars. Clarence was presented a purple heart from injuries received while based at Guadalcanal. He was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lora Vickey Prevette; six brothers, Barney, Will, Lawrence, Buster, Howard and Buel, and four sisters, Lydia, Betty, Ennis and Minnie. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, and, Annie Mae Call, Bill and Mary Sparks and Gene and Mary Prevette.
A graveside service will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory by Pastor Boyce Cleary. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to donor's charity of choice. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
