Clarence “Dumpy” Hill, 84 years of age, passed away in his home in Pfafftown, NC on August 16, 2024, from a broken heart. The son of Paul “Gooch” and Helen Hill was born in Forsyth County and grew up to become a number of titles. Husband to the greatest love of his life who passed four days before him, Sherry Hill; brother to Paul (Sandy) Hill; father to Craig (Kristen), Mike (Sam), Clarence (Lori) Jr., Angie (Sean), Paul (Jackie), and Rummel; grandfather to Steven, McKenzie, Hannah, Riley, Quinn and Kimberly (Dom) and also great-grandfather to Asher and Tate. A grandson, Clarence III preceded him in death. Dumpy made his name in numerous places including his early days of being labeled the best skating coach and mentor Skate Haven in Winston-Salem has ever produced. Touching the lives of so many people through roller skating made way for stories and people remembering his impact only to stop him everywhere he went to thank him for the memories. Passed down from his father, his love for cars took him on a journey of restoration and painting automobiles in a magnitude only the ones that had the privilege of experiencing his talent for painting could tell you how great he was. Dumpy had an unusual way of making friends everywhere he went and loved to cook meals for his friends on a weekly basis. Those friends and neighbors stood by and have proven to his family, in a great way, how much he was appreciated by looking after everyone in Dumpy and Sherry’s life while times were difficult. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Pastor Josh Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM prior to the service. A burial will be held at Westlawn Gardens in Clemmons following the service.
