Mr. Claude “Ray” Knight, 87, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023.  He was born August 10, 1935, in Forsyth County to the late Claude Lee Knight and Laura Edna Knight.  Ray worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.  After retirement his greatest happiness was spending time with his loving wife, Juanita Wilhelm Knight, traveling out west, going on camping trips, and going to Myrtle Beach.  August 1st would have been he and his wife’s 70th wedding anniversary. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Ray is preceded in death mother and father-in-law, Barney and Anne Wilhelm; brother-in-law, Bill Wilhelm; sister-in-law, Audrey Wilhelm; nephew, Ronnie Lee Knight; and brother, Ronnie Knight.  He is survived by son, Johnny Ray Knight (Patrice); daughter, Janice Knight Fulk (Mike); brother-in-law, Wayne Wilhelm (Linda); sister-in-law, Geraldine Knight; grandchildren: Aaron Knight (Ashley), Jessica Heavner (Patrick), and Ryan McCune (Traci); great-grandchildren: John Aaron Knight, Jr., Michael Preston, Presley Merritt, Nora Haven, Carli, Maddi, Graelyn, Whitaker, Greer, one on the way, Weston; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13th at Salem Moravian Graveyard with Rev. James Demby officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Chapel Moravian Church, 324 Goldfloss Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
