Clay Sydna Anderson

Mr. Clay Sydna Anderson, 90, passed away Wednesday August 16, 2023, at his home. He was born November 9, 1932, in Wilkes County, NC to the late Earl Turner Anderson and Lillian Faw Anderson. Clay was an active member of United Baptist Church where he served in many capacities throughout his time with the Church. He retired from McLean Trucking and moved to the coast with his late wife Priscilla Allen Anderson to enjoy his retirement with fishing, crabbing, and enjoying the island life. While living at the coast Clay joined and became Fire Chief of the Cedar Island Volunteer Fire Department and returned to the Winston-Salem area later in life. In addition to his parents and Priscilla he was preceded in death by his first wife; Belva Bishop Anderson, and a son; Steve Anderson. Clay is survived by two children, Nokie Ford and Mark Anderson (Melissa); daughter in-law, Pam Anderson; eight grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Michael Blakley (Katie), Candace Loflin (Donnie), Shannon Southern (Brad), Shawn Anderson (Danielle), Tyler McCormick (Stephanie), Tori Doub (Nick), and Austin Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Westmoreland; several nieces and nephews; and two fur babies, Mylo and Boots. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday August 21, 2023, at Gardens of Memory Walkertown with Rev. Dr. Will Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to United Baptist Church, 5815 Murray Rd, Winston-Salem, NC.
