Mr. Clifford (Cliff) Wade Connell, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully at home, after a four month battle with pancreatic cancer, on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the age of 57. He was the husband of Thomas Macon Shirley, Jr. They shared 5 wonderful years of marriage together. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Cliff was the son of Robert Edward Lee and Patricia Elliott Connell. He was retired from Wells Fargo where he worked as an Information Security Analyst for 28 years. Cliff enjoyed creating digital abstract paintings, family walks around the neighborhood with the family pet and helping his husband learn lines for community theatre plays. He is survived by his parents; husband, Thomas Macon Shirley, Jr.; sister, Cathy Connell Kirsch and husband Karl; nephew, Victor Kirsch; niece, Bristol Kirsch; father-in-law, Thomas Shirley Sr.; brother-in-law, Scott Shirley and wife Tereia; daughter-in-law, Ellen Moreno and husband Jose; son-in-law, Christopher Shirley; grandchildren-in-law, Emma Moreno and Noah Reid; and he was “snack daddy” to the family dog, Eddie Shirley. There will be a gathering of his family and friends 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller on Silas Creek Parkway.
