Clifton Eugene "Gene" Hartman

         Mr. Clifton Eugene “Gene” Hartman Jr, 83, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born November 3, 1942 in Forsyth County to Clifton Eugene Hartman and Josephine Smith Hartman. He graduated from Griffith High School in 1960 and following draft, served in the United States Army two years. His longstanding commitment as a founding member of Badin Lake Fire Department from 1973-2026, serving as Chief from 1978-2004, is a reflection of his diligence in caring for others. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Hartman. Surviving are his two nephews, J.D. Hartman (Robin), Andrew Hartman (Bethany) and one niece, Debby Hartman. 
         Visitation will be held Sunday March 22, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A private graveside service will follow at the Hartman Family Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Hobson officiating. The family would like to mention a special thanks to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their care and compassion for Gene.
