“Buck” Clinton Lee Shouse passed away peacefully at Trellis Supportive Care of Winston Salem on August 18, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on February 1, 1941, to the late Charlie Clinton and Beulah Mae Kiger Shouse. After high school, he proudly served in the military for several years.

During his time with US Navy, Buck was given the opportunity to sail on the Maiden Voyage of the USS Kitty Hawk, which was the first active supercarrier ship to enter active military service. After 18 months with the Navy, he was honorably discharged. He chose to continue his service and then, enlisted with the US Army and where he served for 10 years and fought during the Vietnam War. He was invited to take part in the 2023 Triad Honor Flight for a day trip to Washington, DC where he was able to visit various memorials, paying both his respects and receiving honor for his service. It would become one of the proudest moments of his military career.

As an avid bowler, Buck competed on a professional level but still joined his family on the lanes in the amateur leagues. He loved to play and watch golf. Faith guided his daily life, and he was an active member of the Hope Community Church.

Buck is preceded in death by his father and mother; as well as his sisters, Inez Armstrong, Lucille Crotts, Patricia McNeill and Shirley Jean Shouse. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Shouse; sons, Bryan Shouse, Patrick Shouse and his wife, Rebecca; his grandsons, Joey and PJ Shouse; special friends, Connie and Glenn Thomas; and many extended family members.

Special thanks to the “Tuesday Titans” for their thoughts and prayers. Additional thanks are being extended to his nieces, Susan Keiger and Teresa Krizmanich, for the love and support they have provided during this time. No matter what the need was, they were always ready to selflessly lend themselves to help both Buck and his wife.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00am – 10:45am, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel located at 3950 Macy Grove Rd.
