Mr. Clyde Doughton McGlamery, 95, of Lewisville, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Clyde was born on April 8, 1930, in Wilkes County to the late Hanable Hansford and Mary Grimes McGlamery. A lifelong hard worker, he owned and operated his own painting business for many years. Known as a man of many talents, Clyde had a passion for whittling, racing—he was a car owner for many years at Bowman Gray Stadium and surrounding tracks—and was a proud outdoorsman who loved hunting and simply spending time in nature. He also had a particular fondness for collecting guns and antique cars.
Clyde was known for always offering advice on how to do things "the right way," especially when it came to mowing the lawn, which, according to him, no one else could ever quite do correctly. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores McGlamery; a brother, Johnny McGlamery; and two sisters, VC Roope and Edna Fox.
He is survived by his children: Mike McGlamery, Kay McGlamery, Shannon McGlamery, and Tim McGlamery; his brother, Dewey McGlamery; his grandchildren, Wendy (Kevin), Clint (Celia), Ian, Colin, and Megan; great-grandson, Nolan; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 5899 River Rd / Liberty Grove Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. There will be no formal visitation.
