Mr. Conrad "Cub" Barger Walker, Jr., 92, of Winston-Salem entered into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 4, 2018. He was born in Mullens, WV on June 17, 1925, to the late Conrad Barger Walker, Sr. and Willie Davis Walker. Mr. Walker enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 16 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. During his life, he built, owned, and operated two service stations, as well as a NAPA auto parts store in Vinton, VA. Mr. Walker was a member of the Masonic Lodge #151 AF&AM of Mullens, WV for over 60 years. He loved antique cars, especially Model-A Fords; he restored a number of them. Cub was outgoing, he made friends easily, and was known for his sense of humor. He loved dogs of all sizes. After retirement, he and Artie moved to Winston-Salem to be closer to family. Mr. Walker was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church, where he was the oldest male member. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Jack Davis Walker. Surviving are his wife Artie Cunningham Walker, a daughter, Anna-Marie Abbott and husband Dr. Thomas Abbott, a grandson, James Walker Abbott and wife Katy, and many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard, officiated by Rev. James Newsome, Jr. followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, or Sunnyside Ministry, 319 Haled Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
