Curtis McDow Hunter passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at 4:10 a.m.
He is survived by his two children: Claralynne Williams in Suffolk, VA; and Mark David Hunter in Clemmons, NC.
Curtis was born on October 14, 1931, to Clarence David and Hilda Cyrus Hunter. in Virginia Baptist Hospital Lynchburg, VA. He grew up as a member of Inglewood Baptist Church and served in the Navy during the Korean War; Curtis had a long and varied work career: from being a conductor on Norfolk Southern Railroad, insurance agent for Life of Virginia, quality controller for G.E., fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Exxon and Phillips 66 station owner, to establishing his own business, National Battery Sales. He spent the last years of his working career as a successful manager of an Eastcoast station. Curtis was born in and was a lifelong resident of Lynchburg, VA.
