D. Keene

Winston-Salem- Mr. D. David Keene, 71, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his residence.  He was born June 28, 1947 in Buchanan County, Virginia, the son of Perry and Helen Wampler Keen.  A graduate of East Tennessee State University, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force in Spain.  For many years, David worked as a Computer Consultant at R.J. Reynolds and later started his own IT firm, Keene Consulting.  He was also the Business Manager and IT Specialist for Hayden Design Associates.  During his youth he enjoyed playing baseball as a catcher, but as he grew older he enjoyed tennis, golf, sailing, and most recently, hunting. David was an avid University of Tennessee fan, especially football and was a proud member of the Vol Navy.  His great sense of humor, huge smile, kindness and generosity toward everyone will be fondly remembered by all that knew him.  He will be missed greatly by his grandchildren whom he loved and had a special bond.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Keen and brother, Ronnie Keen.  Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Donna N. Hayden Keene; three sons, Michael Keene and wife, Beth of Clemmons, Chris Hayden and wife, Sarah of Weaverville and Chad Hayden and wife, Jennifer of Lewisville; three brothers, Phillip Keen of Bristol, TN., Kenny Keen and wife, Becky of Roanoke, VA. and Chad Keen and wife, Kathy of Bristol, TN.; seven grandchildren, Finn and Levi Hayden, Hunter and Heidi Hayden, Jack and Maddie Keene, and Mayah Ding and his special friend and companion, Dusty.  A Gathering of Friends will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with remarks and stories from family and friends starting around 3:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
