Dallas Brown

Mr. Dallas Brown, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Dallas was born in Stokes County, April 5, 1931 to Orilla and Henry Brown. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and loved his grandchildren dearly. Dallas loved all his family and friends. He was an active member of Crestwood Baptist Church for many years. After high school graduation, he later studied Avionics at NC State University and Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force as a flight engineer during the Korean Conflict. After service, he was employed at Piedmont Airlines and US Airways as an Avionics Supervisor for 36 years. Dallas was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge # 289, a member of the American Legion Post 255 and the DAV organization. Dallas had a special interest in history and NASCAR. In addition to his parents Dallas was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Beard and three brothers; W.C., Leon, and Laymond Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Linda Brown of the home. One son, Audie (Jodie) Brown, one step-son, Lane (Debbie) Inman and one step-daughter, Linette (Patrick) Nixon. Seven grandchildren; Haley, Audrey, Allie, Noah, Carson, Cate and Hunter. One sister, Audrey ""Sandy"" (Doug) Crater and one brother, J. P. (Thelma) Brown. Several sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life for Dallas will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at Crestwood Baptist Church, 530 Motor Road, Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 A.M. until time of the celebration. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Military Honors. The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to Dr. Steven Klein for his many years of special care to Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestwood Baptist Church.
