Dallas Kimel Shields

Mr. Dallas Kimel Shields, 83, of Lexington died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1930 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Luther Samuel and Amy Kimel Shields. Mr. Shields was a 75 year member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where he was active in numerous committees and missions of the church. He was a graduate of Griffith High School and Vale Tech Institute in Blairsville, PA. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean War and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 30 years of service. He loved his church, his family and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Miller. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Nelson Shields of the home; one son, Kenneth G. Shields and wife Lois of Pinnacle; one daughter, Kathy Shields Seelman and husband, Paul of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Mandy Wardrup and husband, Steven, Jessica Nelson, and Stuart, Cora and Amy Seelman; one brother, Vance Shields and wife, Barbara of Pfafftown and a host of other family and friends. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11:00 AM at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Jim Allred officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt.
