Dana Bell Serge, 77, of Lewisville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, surrounded by love at her daughter’s home.
Born August 28, 1949, Dana was the daughter of the late David Linville Bell, a United States Army veteran and World War II prisoner of war, and Jessie Carlan Bell. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joys were her family, animals, cooking, and flower gardens. She especially loved caring for her beloved cats. Dana had a special gift to make others feel welcome. Her home was always open to family and friends, and her heart seemed to have room for everyone, including all of God’s creatures. Though Dana possessed a beautiful presence, her outward beauty could never compare to the beauty of her heart. Her warmth, generosity, and compassion will be deeply missed. Dana began her professional career as a flight attendant with Piedmont Airlines and later USAir, a career that brought her many wonderful experiences and cherished memories. She later worked in the corporate offices of Lowe’s Home Improvement in North Wilkesboro. In addition to her parents, Dana was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Bell Perry, and her son-in-law, James Christopher Sweet. She is survived by her son, Richard Serge, Jr; daughter, Cindy Sweet; three grandchildren, David Serge, Zach Serge, and CJ Sweet; sister, Roslyn Bell Ford; niece, Chelli Perry Langdon and her husband, Brad; nephew, David Ford and his wife, Malinda; many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews; and Cindy’s special partner and family friend, Eddie Mabe.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to gather at her daughter’s home, 675 Lewisville Vienna Road, to remember Dana and celebrate her life. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Old Shiloh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, live plants and perennials are welcome in preparation for a Memorial Garden on the family property. Beautiful in presence, generous in spirit, and tender at heart, Dana will be greatly missed and forever loved.
