Darcy William Holder

Mr. Darcy William Holder of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born October 29, 1917 to Willie Mason and Glennie Holder. Mr. Holder was a member of Cottage Street Church of Christ where he was song leader for many years. He was retired as a carpenter from J.C. Tucker and Sons Construction. He loved playing golf with his brother-in-law, the late Norman Tucker, and several friends from the church. He also loved all kinds of sports, especially the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team. Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Elizabeth Tucker Holder; daughter, Shelby Spease and husband Jim of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Lori Pendry and husband Rick of High Point; grandson, Darin Spease and wife Kathy of Concord; great grandchildren, Nathan Martin and fiancé Casandra and her daughter Oceana, Nicole Martin, Mason, Morgan and Kasey Spease; great-great grandchildren, Isabela and Jocelyn; step great grandchild, Amber and husband James and their children Alyssa and Hannah. Darcy loved life to the fullest and will be missed greatly by his family and his many numerous friends. He had made many friends at the K and W on Healy Drive where he and his wife ate breakfast every morning, except Sunday, for over 20 years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
