WALKERTOWN- Darren Michael Berthel, 46, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at his home. Darren was born August 13, 1965, in Brooklyn, NY, to William and Sandra Lanciotti Berthel. He was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church and a sports enthusiast - with the Mets, Jets and Jeff Gordon being among his favorites! Surviving are his wife, Carol Marie Berthel of the home; a daughter, Megan Berthel of New York; step daughter, Vanessa Picone of Tobaccoville; his parents, William and Sandra Berthel of Long Island, NY; and a sister, Tara Berthel also of Long Island. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Murr officiating.
