David Bodenhamer, Jr.

Mr. David L. Bodenhamer Jr. passed away in Winston-Salem on July 1, 2019 after an extended illness. He was born in Winston Salem, NC to David L. Bodenhamer Sr. and Peggy Lewis Bodenhamer on February 12, 1958. Dave was a member of the Class of 1976 of Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC.  He went on to college at University of Miami, where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1980, followed by an MBA from UNCG.  Dave was a man of many interests.  Throughout his life, he was a talented musician, had a fantastic Elvis impersonation, and was an avid outdoorsman, who spent multiple weeks a year at the family beach house on Ocean Isle Beach. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, and shooting, as well as hiking and camping with The Boy Scouts of America.

Dave charmed those who knew him with his sharp wit and mischievousness.  He loved nature and, in his youth, would frequently catch and care for small animals. Out of this grew a love for large dogs, raising five Boxers over the years.  This was a passion he shared with his sons.

Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Doris, his sons, William and Michael, and his father, David L. Bodenhamer, Sr.  He was pre-deceased by his mother, Peggy, in 2013.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor 12:00 Noon Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2019, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
